I am a very average golfer who happened to find a "Ginty" golf club at a local sports store several years ago. For me, a golfer who is often in trouble, it soon became my favorite club. On a bad day I sometimes I use it from the

tee to the green.

I went to Ireland in 2002 with my son's father-in-law, Michael Waldron,  a real "Irishman. We played several courses in southwest Ireland , including Old Head where I got the first and only eagle of my golf life. Of course my second shot to the green was Ginty. 

I have subsequently collected over 200 Stan Thompson woods, thirteen different  sets of irons and over 55 different putters.

In collecting these clubs I have become interested  in Stan Thompson and his many inventions, innovations and contributions to golf.

I have collected copies of his manypatents. I own a copy of the 1970 and 1989 catalogues. I have gleaned as much information about Stan from the internet as is available, but there really isn't that much to be found.

I believe that Stan Thompson was a very important person in golf in the 50s, 60s,70s and 80's. I feel that he never received the credit he deserved as a golf innovator and club maker. I know there must be many people still alive that knew him and about him.

I would be most appreciative if anyone who sees this site would consider taking the time to share with me what they know and remember about Stan.
